Depending on the snow conditions of course; the best season is january to the end of April. Our dog sledding trips are only done on request.

Where do we go for dog-sledding?
Dog sledding is possible nearby Bodo if good snow conditions (remember Bodo is near the coast). The best areas for dog sledding are some 60 - 80 km east of Bodo in the inland of Northern Norway near the Swedish border.

How much time do we need for a daytrip dog-sledding?
You could do sledding as a day-trip from Bodo. You can do dog-sledding for several days in the mountain areas near the Swedish border. For a day-trip with dog-sledding from Bodo we will need from 6 to 10 hours. An average daytrip dog-sledding needs at least 6 hours from Bodo.

How many people could join this trip?
Maximum size of a group for a daytrip dog-sledding is about 20 people. Most of our dogsled rides are with small groups. Larger groups could join dog-sledding as a short trial.

Dog-sledding; fitness level
Moderate fitness and agility is required. To enjoy dog-sledding you should feel comfortable with beeing outdoor at winter time, physically the ride is quite easy; the dogs will do the hardest exercise. The degree of difficulty and the precise route is carefully chosen to fulfill the desires and physique of the group itself.

Dog sledding in Northern Norway

Dog-sledge driving is a total experience of speed, teamwork and grandiose scenery. We allow you to experience the exhilaration of standing on the runners of your sledge and driving your own team of dogs.A total experience of speed, teamwork and scenery.

Very little tuition is needed - the dogs know what they are doing ! One of the delights of these trips is getting to know your own dogs which are very friendly and good companions. Sled dogs love running !

The team works together under your instruction - you have to be part of the team - the leader behind the lead dog. A balance of love and direction is required by the driver.

Every participant will lead his/her own team of four or four or six dogs, and travelling across a scenic winter landscape, our Norwegian dog handler will teach you the secrets of dog sledging.

After experiencing a trip in a husky sled one can easily believe that with a husky team you meet the nature in an almost forgotten way. Everything is perfectly silent and peaceful, only the smooth sound of the sled moving through the snow and quiet pant of the huskies.

Within the blue eyes of the dogs one can still sometimes catch a glimpse of the times gone by and the primitive nature, which is very far from the lives of the people living with central heating and electric light.

From our programmes you can choose the most suitable for you, from a two hour trip to a safari lasting one week. We mainly operate in the area of Saltfjellet and Sulitjelma in the county of Nordland.

Special safaris just for you where ever you want to go and for as long as you wish. We do reccomend trips in the Saltfjellet - Svartisen national park which we are allowed to visit with our dogs. We may then sleep comfortable in huts.
